In Mali, three JNIM hostages freed in exchange for ransom and arms

      Kidnapped in late September in Bamako, the three hostages were freed by their captors in Gao, in the north, in return for a ransom worth tens of millions of euros and several tonnes of ammunition.

After more than a month of secret talks, the two Emirati hostages and the Iranian national seized in Mali by gunmen on 23 September have been released.

According to our sources, the handover took place near Gao on the evening of Wednesday 29 October. The kidnappers received a ransom worth tens of millions of euros, along with several tonnes of weaponry.
